Event: “Green Deal and Turkey”

International Law Implementation and Research Center organized a seminar on the 17th of May, 2022 at 16:00 pm with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Nas (Yıldız Teknik University and IKV). The seminar is entitled “Green Deal and Turkey.” It stands for International Law Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Işıl Özkan and Faculty of Law Lecturer Prof. Dr. Deniz Kızılsümer Özer’s in seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Nas pointed out the importance of examining the European Green Deal and their perspectives on the issue, legislation, institutional structure and Turkey-EU relations. Talking about the importance of the Green Deal, NAS stated that it is a big step for Turkey to participate in the United Nations (UN) 26th Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021 as a country that has ratified the Paris Climate Agreement for the first time. He stated that Turkey’s ratification of this agreement will help it be in a stronger position in terms of climate diplomacy in the coming period. He emphasized the need for Turkey to rapidly adapt to this transformation in accordance with the requirements of the Green Deal.
